(Anaheim, CA) – Today, former Anaheim Councilman and future Mayor Tom Tait announced his endorsement of Anaheim Deputy Chief Craig Hunter for Sheriff.  Tait brings considerable influence in local government, as well as Orange County’s major donor community, and his support continues the momentum of recent weeks by the Hunter campaign.

“Orange County should have the best run Sheriff’s department in the state, and I believe Deputy Chief Hunter is the right person for the job,” said Councilman Tait.  “I’ve watched Deputy Chief Hunter run an efficient and effective operation in Anaheim. I am proud to support him for Sheriff.”

Councilman Tom Tait is a prominent Orange County business owner and Republican major donor.  Besides serving on the Anaheim City Council, Tom Tait has also served on a number of various commissions, including as an advisory board member for the Anaheim Family YMCA.

One of the most respected members of Orange County’s law enforcement community, Craig Hunter is the current Deputy Sheriff for the city of Anaheim and oversees all daily police operations of California’s tenth largest city, including the department’s nearly 800 full time and volunteer members and a $120 million budget. Through polices developed under Chief Hunter’s tenure, Anaheim has earned national acclaim for homeland security and community policing, and the city is recognized as the safest among California’s ten largest cities.
