ANAHEIM, CA – Today, two local elected leaders from Garden Grove – Mayor Bill Dalton and
Councilman Andrew Do – endorsed Anaheim Deputy Police Chief Craig Hunter’s campaign
for Sheriff. In doing so, the two add significant support from Central Orange County to Hunter’s
campaign.
“Craig Hunter has the right management experience and conservative values we need running
the Sheriff’s Department,” said Mayor Dalton.
“I know Craig Hunter will do for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department what he’s done for the
Anaheim Police Department – making it into one of the State’s premier law enforcement
agencies,” added Councilman Do.
“I am so grateful to have the support of two of Central Orange County’s most prominent
leaders,” said Hunter. “Mayor Dalton and Councilman Do know what we need to do to reform
the Sheriff’s Department, and so I am proud to have them with me.”
As Anaheim’s Deputy Chief, Craig Hunter oversees all daily police operations of California’s
tenth largest city, including the department’s nearly 800 full-time and volunteer members, and a
$120 million budget. During his tenure, Anaheim has earned national acclaim for homeland
security and community policing, and the city is recognized as the safest among California’s
ten largest cities. Chief Hunter has also implemented numerous cost saving procedures that
have streamlined spending, eliminated waste, and created more efficient use of taxpayer
dollars.
Chief Hunter holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University. He is
also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Command College, POST Leadership Institute,
and the Delinquency Control Institute at USC. Craig and Lisa Hunter live in Yorba Linda and
are raising their four children.
