(ANAHIEM, CA) – On the heels of a dominating performance at the Orange County Register/GenNext Debate, Sheriff’s candidate and Anaheim Deputy Chief Craig Hunter announced today the support of ten widely respected current and former Orange County Police Chiefs.  The list includes:

Steve Staveley – Former Director of the Department of Justice - Division of Law Enforcement

Jimmie D. Kennedy – Former Anaheim Chief of Police

Roger A. Baker – Des Moines, WA Chief of Police, Former Anaheim Chief of Police

Manny Ortega – Former Placentia Chief of Police

Steve Foster – Former Tustin Chief of Police

Jerry O'Keefe – Former Cal State Fullerton Chief of Police

David Michaels - Former Anaheim Chief of Police

Harold Bastrup – Former Anaheim Chief of Police

John Hensley – Former Costa Mesa Chief of Police

Frank Hauptmann – Maywood Chief of Police, Former Garden Grove Chief of Police

“Craig Hunter is exactly the person Orange County needs as Sheriff for one simple reason – he is the most qualified candidate to do so. He is already running the largest and most impressive Police Department in Orange County and doing so with a balanced budget of $120 million while overseeing a staff of 800. And he is doing this all the while keeping Anaheim among the safest City’s in California. Orange County needs Craig Hunter,” said Kennedy.

“Today’s show of support makes one thing clear – those who know what it takes to run a law enforcement organization know Craig Hunter is right candidate for Sheriff,” said Hunter Spokesman Tim Clark.

As Anaheim’s Deputy Chief of Police, Craig Hunter oversees all daily police operations of California’s tenth largest city, including the department’s nearly 800 full-time and volunteer members, and a $120 million budget.  During his tenure, Anaheim has earned national acclaim for homeland security and community policing, and the city is recognized as the safest among California’s ten largest cities.  Chief Hunter has also implemented numerous cost saving procedures that have streamlined spending, eliminated waste, and created more efficient use of taxpayer dollars.

Chief Hunter holds a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University.  He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Command College, POST Leadership Institute, and the Delinquency Control Institute at USC. Craig and Lisa Hunter live in Yorba Linda and are raising their four children.
